Don’t know what took me back all those years, but I was thinking about the caves of Llangatock, and the ODSS, and put WMCEG into google, and came up with your page. Having only been involved with the club for 2-3 years. I was surprised to see my name on the list. I have since been distracted looking back through my old negatives (which in turn involved wrestling with windows to get my old scanner working) .
Had some great times with the club, do remember how cold the ODSS used to be, only warming up in time to leave – we had a new year party there, and remember the Beer came from one of the Uni halls, but don’t remember who cooked the chickens and baked potatoes, though we were eating the latter fried up for days afterwards. Remember too “tripping up” a hare on the way back to Bull Pot Farm, skinning it and trying to cook it – fresh so very tough. Thanks too to Pixie, who helped me in the green canal on Dan yr Ogof, when I realised how badly I could swim with all the kit.
So thanks to “what’s on in Birmingham” for pointing me in the right direction, though the pub we were meeting in at the time was dire – rats running along outside – but soon we moved to the Old Bulls Head, where the Guinness was excellent!
Wish I had found you earlier – we are in Nottingham, so would have come to the reunion in 2017.
