On one of our extended trips to North Yorks, we were staying for two weekends and the intervening days in one of the local Caving huts (Brackenbottom I think) . Most visitors are only there at weekends but a young lady whose group were only there for the weekend was intending to stay for the week. When she (Molly) found we were too, she asked if she could join up with us.

Our “normal” practise on these longer stays was to have one or two rest-days, allow caving gear kit to get dry and go for a walk in the hills, to the coast, or on one occasion a few booked a parachute jump.  Molly was having none of that, every night (in the pub) she’d be poring over the guide book to select tomorrow’s cave. A group of half a dozen lads wasn’t going to be shown up by a girl so we too ended up caving for 9 consecutive days, not just that but some of the trips Molly proposed were a bit more demanding than our usual choices.  It was only toward the end of the week that we found out that there was a reason that Molly was so extremely fit, she was a gym teacher.
